The rumors are true... DGWUSports is back from the brink of irrelevance and apathy. This time we're going to be far more organized than before. Minimum THREE posts per week, with a forthcoming podcast gaining some momentum behind the scenes. Break it down: 4 Comments The Apologist
Let me start off by apologizing on behalf of myself and the rest of the DGWUS crew. The last few weeks have seen us fall off the map when it comes to following our favorite bumbling Buffalo squads. Between the inactivity of the offseason and the activities of our daily lives, we've been unable to find the time to get caught up. With that in mind, I'm going to attempt to go a little more in-depth with my coverage of all the things we missed. 'Attempt' being the key word... The Scizz The Apologist There have been a couple of things worth mentioning going on with our beloved teams lately, so I thought I'd attempt to bring you all (but mostly me) up to speed. In Sabres news, there has been a little action in the roster department as the team lost a player and resigned another. The Sabres signed Paul Byron (left), a 5-9, 170-pound center from Montreal, Quebec, to a three-year entry-level deal. Byron has been playing for the Gatineau Olympiques in the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League). In his last season with the Olympiques, he set career highs in assists (66) and points (99) as he finished fourth in league scoring. On the flip side, the Sabres lost forward Marek Zagrapan to the Severstal Cherepovets of the KHL (Kontinental Hockey League). He was a first-round draft pick in 2005, but spent the last three years in the minors.
[DGWUS Super Special Fun Fact: Paul Byron would later be part of the trade for Robyn Regehr. Way to go, Paul!] But enough about T.O. The Bills began their OTAs today!
(insert cliche cricket noises here) ...ok, I don't really know anything about them either, but it's blog-worthy so here I go. The Scizz The Scizz & The Yachtsman [Editor's Note: This is part two of DGWUSports' Live Blog of the 2009 NFL Draft. Due to technical difficulties, there was a break in the action, so they started again in a new post. Click this link to start from the beginning with "2009 NFL Draft: Live Blog".] This is Ludders. This is Eric Wood. 7:31 Scizz: So, we have had some technical difficulties. The Mike Ludders picture literally crashed the blog, so therefore we have restarted the blog here in the 2nd round (and late 1st). Beanie Wells was selected by Arizona. Second best man named "Beanie" behind this guy. The Scizz & The Yachtsman Welcome to the DGWUS Live blog of the 2009 NFL Draft. We will have some analysis, witty banter, and plenty of poop jokes. The Yachtsman, the Scizz, and maybe some special guests. 3:47 Scizz: New Orleans is leading Denver. Wait, what? 4:03 Yachtsman: Chris Berman is sweatily introducing Roger Goodell, who looks like he just finished a marathon session of bondage sex... or he's just exhausted... and the Lions select Matthew Stafford... WOW. SHOCKER. Are Stafford's hands too small? Cue up only deep ball clip they've shown all week... |
