400 career league appearances, celebrated with three absolutely beauteous goals and a much-needed bounce-back win in the Merseyside Derby. Steven Gerrard is nothing short of a legend.
Today was a fantastic day to be a Liverpool fan and to have a man crush on LFC's #8 as Yachtsman and me unabashedly do. #BonerJams03, right mom?
Sure, the Reds were aided by a lesser Evertonian squad resting up for their FA Cup Quarterfinal versus Sunderland this weekend and, sure, Champions League may be well out of reach, but LFC fans worldwide were given a real treat today as Gerrard put yet another exclamation point on his career with the club. Luis Suarez had perhaps his best game since returning from his suspension, Andy Carroll looked quite good, and Stewart Downing seems to be rounding into form. With the team seemingly united in their determination to again sweep the Merseyside Derby, it was as if we were watching a different squad than had suited up against Arsenal and Sunderland.
Next up, Stoke City and their garbage bag style of Potter football in the FA Cup this weekend. Even though their crowd-the-box strategy has often been a thorn in the side of the Reds, suddenly I'm a lot less worried. Getting all weak in the knees over a lad from Whiston will do that I guess.
