Dear God Why Us Sports |

Hosted by Joe from Buffalo Wins, this synergistic podcast is focused on the Bills news of the day - namely Marcell Dareus, Jerry Hughes and their fast cars, and how we feel about #99 given his recent arrests and their closeness in time. We ramble and rant and ultimately get to talking about the future of the Bills and what kind of legacy we're wading through following Ralph Wilson's death.

During the 2013 Buffalo Bills season, the Scizz will be writing weekly game previews that will ruin your entire weekend. The last two seasons saw him using quotes from The Big Lebowski and Super Troopers to convey his feelings for this crapfire of a franchise. This year he'll be choosing quotes from many of his favorite films to get the point across. As always, it's 25% football, 70% useless garbage, and 5% luchador gambling picks. Here we go.....

First and foremost, go here and buy a shirt for #SupportSally if you haven't already. In fact, even if you have go buy another one. The support we have seen from Buffalo and the blog/twitter/facebook universe has been incredible. Keep it up. On to the foosball. Where do you even begin with this offseason? My mood towards this team has changed so many times I can't even remember if I was excited after the draft or was certain of a 2 - 14 season. The good? The Bills are rid of the football herpes known as Chan Gailey & Buddy Nix. They hired young, motivated coaches in Doug Marrone, Nate Hackett, and Mike Pettine. They confidently reached at the draft for a future QB1 in E.J. Manuel. The bad? Potential shutdown corner Stephon Gilmore is out 6-8 weeks for an already thin CB squad, Jarius Byrd appears to hate the idea of being anywhere near Buffalo, and although E.J. Manuel appears to be healthy, the QB situation over the last couple weeks looks like something out of shitty ABC family T.V. movie. But you know what? I'm sitting on the Yachtsman's couch in Buffalo right now, we're going to the game Sunday, and dammit all football is back. So similar to what my fictional idol Peter Venkman says in a time of fear, uncertainty, and almost certain death, "I love this team! I'm excited to be a fan! Let's do it!" After the jump I ramble some more
We gathered to chat about sports and stuff. Bills. Jokes. Dance music. Ruth Bader Ginsburg. America.

Welp. That happened. We went to the Sabres game out on Long Island last week, we recorded dipshit #hottakes in the midst of our drunkenness, and then I took my sweet ass time editing it all into a nice little package for you. At least it's short, right guys? If you enjoy those moments when we're the most wretched versions of ourselves, you'll love this one. If you prefer us when we're serious sports analysts, go take a nap while reading Buffalo Wins. Music by the Jambrones, The Edgar Winter Group, The Doors and Eric Clapton. Cue the milquetoast opener: Well gosh darnit, fans of the Deeg, I know you've been eagerly awaiting content from the Kings of Fresh Takes and like the degenerates we are, we've opted to tend to our real world lives instead of bloviating about the latest in bread and circus sports entertainment. Why the lull? Well, personally, my answer to that question has three parts: (1) it's July and I've been getting viciously hamzoed more often than I should admit (hooray anonymous internet monikers!!); (2) I've been traveling a lot over the past 10 days, aforementionedly (not a word?) drunk for 70% of it (not true... not not true either), and I've simply been too drunk and/or hungover and/or distracted to sit down for a little chat; and (3) the only bright spots in my sports world are a surging team in a still ignored league (for now) and an utterly unproven team in the best league in America (for now). Forgive me if I don't jump for joy at the prospect of dwelling on shit that makes me contemplate a swift union between my fist and Fred Wilpon's balls. But more on those Mets in a few. I can't lead of this trainwreck with that much heartache. Can't you tell this is going to be FUN??? I'm bored and drunk on a train and you all get the fruits of my labor! Wait... we need music. The Deeg After a super organized podcast two weeks ago, we came up with the brilliant idea this week to complete a power hour before recording episode 31 of the CrapTastiCast. If you’re unsure of what a power hour is, it involves the consumption of larges quantities of beer in a single hour, and is usually done by teenagers and college students to get super drunk while pre-gaming. We cannot be held responsible for what followed. In our first segment, we talk about bad decisions, the blogger summit, fan access, and get some insight on all three from regular CrapTastiCast guest, Joe Pinzone of Buffalo Wins and his own podcast, Talkamania. That’s right, we got Joseph lit up again. And apologies for around the 3:40 mark where there is an unexplained jump-cut. We lost about 20 seconds of casting that is now somewhere in the podcasting stratosphere. Later on, we make numerous inappropriate jokes about people we don’t know, chat about the NBA Finals, argue more about Lebron James (It wouldn’t be Deeg approved without it!), tell stories about James Vanderbeek’s sister, and laugh at Joe as he almost takes a shit in my hallway closet. Seriously. Then we end it by playing a very drunken and forgetful version of “Name That Sports Trivia Contest Thing” during the 3rd segment. Musical interludes are from The Talking Heads, Radiohead, and the Ramones. Download the podcast through Libsyn or the iTunes link below, as well as stream right from the blog. Stay tuned to the blog and podcast, as in the next few weeks we will be switching the CrapTastiCast over to another podcast hoster, so you’ll have to re-subscribe. Sorry about that, but the new host will allow us to do many more cool things, as well as save us $$$. Dollar Dollar Bill Ya’ll. Jump to 1:10 in the video below to enjoy some Keith Murray in an Alex Van Pelt jersey. Welcome to episode #6! Boy do we have a treat for you kiddies! This week, fellow blogger and podcaster Joe Pinzone from Buffalowins.com joins us on the CrapTastiCast. Joe is the "O.G." of the ex-pat community in NYC and he has amazing stuff happening over at BuffaloWins, including the ambitious "What if" series and the new quasi-celebrity addition to his staff, Fake Darcy. Within the first 15 minutes of the podcast Joe has a Yachtsman style rant and we immeditaely knew that this was going to be a good one. The Scizz also had the honor of sharing a mic with Joe and it brought him back to his days of touring with the E-Street Band Beside Joe's awesome blog, we also discuss why Jets fans are the worst, Joe growing up during the Bills Super Bowl Era, what our lives would be like if Scott Norwood makes that kick, the FC Buffalo game in Brooklyn (we got hosed), the heartbreak of being a Buffalo fan and why the site got it's name, which off-season we are more excited about, why we continue to get excited for Marcell Dareus, and to the delight of the apologist, a whole lot of NBA chatter (including how amazing Zach Randolph's therapist is). Joe does an amazing job and fits right in with the rest of us bozo's and even joined us from some high alcohol content beers after the show. It was an absolute please having him on the podcast and we are already making plans to have him back (if we didn't scare him off arguing about politics at the post-podcast get together). You can also follow Joe on twitter @JoeBuffalowins and Fake Darcy @FakeDarcy of course. Class act all the way Joe! As always, you can listen to the podcast below or PLEASE download and subscribe to the podcast through iTunes or Libsyn by clicking the respective links. Special Thanks to Megsy and Mondee for all the awesome work they do for us. And let us all pray that the Barrister got out of the bachelor party he was at in Dover....alive. Enjoy the show and spread the good word people! |
